I think everyone who wishes they were back in the 60's/other-time-period should see Midnight in Paris
Even though the basic structure was a bit predictable (only because it was so formulaic for Woody Allen), aside from all the great cameos of everyone’s favourite writers and artists from the 20’s, I like the point the film made about wishing you were in a different era. It’s definitely dangerous because if you were in that era, maybe you would have romanticized a previous one (like that post I saw directed to Beatles fangirls that said “What if we were in the 60’s and instead of appreciating the current music we all were horny over Beethoven?”). Just something I will try to remember when I’m complaining about how shitty 2012 is.
“Slut” is how we vilify a woman for exercising her right to say “yes”. “Friendzone” is how we vilify a woman for exercising her right to say “no”.”
